It was announced Thursday that America Online was purchasing a controlling share of-
Wait a minute... AOL still exists?
Really?
Are people still using dial-up?
It's been years since I've gotten their free CD-ROM in the mail.
I was sure they went out of business when Time Warner kicked them to the curb.
Didn't the Huffington Post buy AOL?
The other way around? Really?
AOL has money?
How?
Oh, they sold a bunch of old patents to Microsoft for $1 billion.
Wow.
I guess they're a vibrant web entity, not at all going through a slow-motion liquidation before our very eyes.
It's true-
Once internet users have gleamed over Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, The Morning After Post, Bing, Reddit, ESPN.com, Tumblr, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, YouPorn, WordPress and MySpace, AOL is the first place they go.
